A Timeline of the Glendale Gateway Trust

1996:
​The Glendale Gateway Trust was set up and community hub was established in the Cheviot Centre, Wooler via an asset transfer and assistance from private trust funds, the Lottery, and ONE.

2005-7:
Affordable housing was created on a derelict site at Butler Court in Wooler.
Funded via a private loan, The NSP & ONE. It was then sold to Home Housing to provide affordable housing for the community.

2001-9:
Creation of Wooler youth drop-in centre, shops & a cafe on the high Street, and affordable housing.
This was made possible via funding from

  • ONE (Market Town Renewal)

2006:
Purchase of Wooler Youth Hostel from the YHA.
Made possible with funding from the Northern Rock Foundation and ONE.

2012:
Wooler Library was relocated to the Cheviot Centre alongside the established Tourist Information Centre, increasing the opening hours to 38 per week. The public’s use of both facilities has rocketed! 

2012:
The former library building was converted to two affordable housing properties via an asset transfer. The work was made possible with assistance from the Homes & Communities Agency, private donations and funds from GGT reserves.

2012-2015- Projects
The development of 9 housing units from empty buildings in Wooler. 
Office space expanded at Cheviot Centre with addition of three pods. Rural Growth Network capital & revenue funding and Villages (SOS) funding made this possible.
