Connecting Wooler with Nature Recovery

The Glendale Gateway Trust and partners are looking at ways to connect the communities of Wooler and wider Glendale with an improved water environment, and we’d like members of the community to help us to do this.

We are interested in approaching this from all angles, for example the historic legacy of gravel extraction, the local history of the site, the ecology of the watercourse and engaging residents with the health benefits of the natural environment.

Suggestions from the community will help to shape a National Heritage Fund bid. If successful, the project would begin in 2026.

Perhaps you have memories or stories of the river you would like to share? Could access to the river be improved?

To complete a questionnaire, you can either use the QR code posted here, or pop into the Cheviot Centre to fill one out. We will also have a suggestion board in the Cheviot Centre foyer for you to pop your thought and ideas on.

Thank you in advance for your time and input.
